"In wildness is the preservation of the world." - Henry David Thoreau
I just took three weeks to hike 182 miles through the Colorado mountains. Spending this time in the wilderness was the greatest gift that I could have given myself. Nature has a way of cleaning our minds and repairing the damage we do to the world. She accepts all of our contaminated creations and turns them back into beautiful works of art. She absorbs our negativity, processes it through her loving soils and feeds it back to us in the form of positive energy. Nothing that man creates is capable of resisting the reclaiming force of nature. We consider ourselves separate from nature creating walls and boundaries that keep her out, but she whispers constant reminders that we are still one. Knowing that she still wants to include us in her realm brings me much peace. It means that we have not yet strayed too far from her well balanced system for integration to be possible. Each moment that I spent observing her intricate workings filled me with inspiration and love. All that is needed is provided and all that is provided is used. In simplicity there is wholeness. In my moments of solitude, I never once felt alone or vulnerable. I had reentered mother nature's system and when you are one with her, she takes care of you. In reestablishing my balance with nature I found peace.
